Thanksgiving: Persian-style!

20121127-234618.jpg

Let’s start with the herbs. We put parsley, mint, basal, tarragon, etc. in small glass vases. This keeps the fresh and allows people to just grab and go. Persians eat their garnishes… Is that weird?

We love to put out feta and olives too. No Persian meal is complete without the option of these two staples!

Violet

Sugared violets are more for decoration, but they are definitely edible. They would look really cute adorning chocolate cupcakes with a mound of violet buttercream frosting. Last but not least, we got purple carrots in our CSA box and they were so misleading! They were orange on the inside 😦

Yellow

Yellow tomatoes, yellow rice with shrimp, honey semifreddo ( from nigella Lawson) .

This is a completely yellow meal. Serve a yellow tomato salad with salt and Italian dressing. The entrΓ©e is Persian yellow rice with shrimp. It is simply delicious. For dessert, honey semifreddo sound absolutely delicious and I’ve been dreaming of it ever since I saw nigella make it.
